Villa Foscarini Shoe Museum

In Stra, just over 1 km from the Hotel Magia del Brenta, is the Rossimoda Shoe Museum, housed in the historic Villa Foscarini. Villa Foscarini was built between 1617 and 1635 by Vincenzo Scamozzi for the Foscarini family. The main villa houses the Museum of Author’s Shoes, where 1,500 pieces are exhibited, a selection of Rossi Moda production from the 1950s to the present day.

This is also home to the Modern Art Collection (among the artists exhibited Jim Dine, David Hockney, Man Ray, Victor Vasarely) collected over many years by Luigino Rossi, owner of the villa until 2002.
Of note is a series of women’s shoe designs that Andy Warhol executed in a Pop Art key in the 1950s, when he worked as a stylist for a shoe factory in New York. The works of Andy Warhol on display are reproductions, the originals are not visible.
